Private Herman Barney

Barney was born in Waterford (Erie County), Pennsylvania on October 29, 1845. He was residing in Palatine (Cook County), Illinois when he enlisted in the regiment on May 31, 1864. He was mustered on June 1, 1864. Barney served about 4 ½ months. He was discharged on October 17, 1864 at Chicago.
The 132nd Illinois Infantry was organized at Camp Fry (Chicago), Illinois for 100 days of service on June 1, 1864. The regiment was assigned to garrison duty in Kentucky.
Barney died on April 24, 1931 at the age of 85 years. He is buried in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Madison (Madison County), Nebraska. Barney was a member of the Chase Post (#143) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Madison.
