Barrow was born on December 18, 1848. He enlisted in the regiment on September 16, 1864. Barrow was mustered on September 23, 1864. Based on his date of birth, he was 15 years old when he enlisted. He served about 9 months and was discharged on June 27, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee.
The 175th Ohio Infantry was organized and mustered at Camp Denison, Ohio on October 11, 1864. The unit was assigned to the Nashville Campaign (November 24-December 28, 1864) and fought at the Battle of Franklin (November 30) and the Battle of Nashville (December 15-16). The regiment was mustered out on June 27, 1865.
Barrow died on July 29, 1931 at the age of 82 years. He is buried in the Leau Qui Court Cemetery in Niobrara (Knox County), Nebraska. Barrow was a member of the Randolph Post (#352) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Randolph, Nebraska.
