Crawford was born in Pennsylvania on August 15, 1844. He was residing in New Durham (LaPorte County), Indiana when he enlisted and mustered in the regiment on August 9, 1865. Crawford served about 7 months before being discharged on September 19, 1865.
The 151st Indiana Infantry was organized and mustered at Indianapolis on March 3, 1865. The regiment was sent to Tennessee and performed garrison duty until it was mustered out.
Crawford died on January 10, 1933 at the age of 88 years. He is buried in the Wood River Cemetery in Wood River (Hall County), Nebraska.
