Corporal Francis Davis
Company I, 11th Minnesota Infantry
Davis was born in New York on October 2, 1843. He enlisted and was mustered in the regiment on August 20, 1864 as a corporal. Davis served about 10 months. He was discharged on June 26, 1865 at St Paul, Minnesota.
The 11th Minnesota Infantry was organized at Fort Snelling, Minnesota in August and Septmeber 1864. The unit performed guard duty on the Louisville and Nashville Railroad in Tennessee and Kentucky.
Davis died on June 3, 1931 at the age of 87 years. He is buried in the Ord Cemetery in Ord (Valley County), Nebraska. Davis was a member of the Carson Post (#40) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Ord.
