Private George Englehart
Company I, 60th Ohio Infantry
Englehart (also spelled Engelhart and Engelhardt) was born in Switzerland on January 4, 1844. He enlisted and was mustered in the regiment on December 20, 1864. Englehart served 7 months and was discharged on July 28, 1865 in Washington DC.
During his enlistment, the unit was part of the Appomattox Campaign (VA) (March 28-April 9, 1865). The regiment was at Appomattox Court House (April 9, 1865) when General Lee surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia.
Englehart died on February 20, 1934 at the age of 90 years. He is buried in the Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln (Lancaster County), Nebraska. Englehart was a member of the Farragut Post (#25) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Lincoln.
