Company I, 147th Illinois Infantry (1 year/1865)

Green was born in Illinois on October 5, 1848. He was residing in Nunda (McHenry County), Illinois when he enlisted and mustered in the regiment on February 3, 1865. Green served a little over 3 months. He was discharged on May 18, 1865 at Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The 147th Illinois Infantry as organized at Camp Fry, Illinois for 1 year on February 18, 1865. The unit was assigned to Georgia and spent its’ entire term of duty of that location.

Green died on September 24, 1933 at the age of 84 years. He is buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion (Boone County), Nebraska. Green was a member of the Carson Post (#42) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Albion.
