Private Rufus G Gregg
Company E, 48th Wisconsin Infantry
Gregg was born in Vermont on July 13, 1840. He was living in Medina (Dane County), Wisconsin when he enlisted and mustered in the regiment on February 21, 1865. Gregg served about 10 months. He was discharged on December 30, 1865.
The 48th Wisconsin Infantry was organized at Milwaukee in February and March 1865. The unit was assigned to Kansas for provost duty and was stationed at Fort Scott.
Gregg died on June 13, 1934 at the age of 93 years. He is buried in the Harvard Cemetery in Harvard (Clay County), Nebraska. Gregg was a member of the Richardson Post (#60)
of the Grand Army of the Republic in Harvard.
