Kreachbaum (also spelled Krishbaum) was born in Hocking County, Ohio on November 28, 1844. He enlisted and mustered in the regiment on February 27, 1865. Kreachbaum served 7 months. He was discharged on September 16, 1865 at Vicksburg, Mississippi.

During his tour of duty, the 58th Ohio Infantry was stationed at Vicksburg and was assigned to provost duty.

Kreachbaum died on June 15, 1935 at the age of 90 years. He is buried in the Geneva Cemetery in Geneva (Fillmore County), Nebraska. He was a member of the Wilson Post (#22) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Geneva.
