Company F, 42nd Missouri Infantry

Lawson was born in Jackson County, Tennessee on December 21, 1845. He enlisted and mustered in the regiment in September 1864. Lawson’s date of enlistment and discharge were not available.

The 42nd Missouri Infantry was organized at Macon, Missouri in September 1864. The regiment was assigned to railroad guard duty in Missouri. In addition, it performed duties in Tennessee and was discharged on June 28, 1865.

Lawson died on October 17, 1932 at the age of 86 years. He is buried in the Viola Cemetery in Oconto (Custer County), Nebraska. Lawson was a member of the Reno Post (#112) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Lexington, Nebraska.
