Information relating to this veteran is sketchy. One source indicates that he was born in Mobile, Alabama on December 3, 1849. The Sons of the Union Veterans list his enlistment date as April 19, 1864. If that date is accurate, he was 14 years old when he enlisted. According to the same source, he served about 9 months before his discharge on January 20, 1865.
Miles died on June 12, 1941 at the age of 91 years. He is buried in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha (Douglas County), Nebraska. Miles was a member of the Crook Post (#262) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Omaha.
