Private Silas Miller

Miller was born in Indiana on October 5, 1843. He was residing in Freedom (Carroll County), Illinois when he enlisted and mustered in the regiment on January 8, 1864. Miller served about 18 months before he was discharged on July 6, 1865 at Chicago.

Miller joined the regiment in the early part of 1864. During his enlistment, he unit was involved in the Atlanta Campaign from May through September, 1864. The Battle of Kenesaw was one of several engagements during that Campaign.

He died on February 7, 1931 at the age of 87 years. He is buried in the Hoffer Cemetery in Polk County, Nebraska. Miller was a member of the Reynolds Post (#26) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Osceola, Nebraska.
