Private Luther Mattox

Company G, 151st Indiana Infantry

Mattox (also spelled Mattix) was born in Waldo (Marion County), Ohio on March 10, 1845. He enlisted and mustered in the regiment on February 2, 1865. Mattox served about 7 months. He was discharged on September 19, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee.

The 151st Indiana Infantry was organized and mustered at Indianapolis on March 3, 1865. The regiment was sent to Tennessee and performed garrison duty until it was mustered out.

Mattox died on September 2, 1932 at the age of 87 years. He is buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff (Scotts Bluff County), Nebraska. Mattox was a member of the Woolsey Post (#49) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Elk Creek, Nebraska.
