Company B, 153rd Indiana Infantry

McClure was born in Indiana on June 23, 1846. He was residing in Huntington County, Indiana when he enlisted and mustered in the regiment on January 23, 1865. McClure served about 7 months. He was discharged on September 4, 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky.

The 153rd Indiana Infantry was organized at Indianapolis on March 1, 1865. The unit was shipped to Russellville, Kentucky and performed operations against guerillas in that area.

McClure died on January 9, 1932 at the age of 85 years. He is buried in the Bureau Cemetery in Clarks (Merrick County), Nebraska. McClure was a member of the Willich Post (#289) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Palmer, Nebraska.
