Private Thomas E Moore

Moore was born in Iowa on August 15, 1840. He was residing in Mount Pleasant (Henry County), Iowa when he enlisted in the regiment on October 12, 1861. Moore was mustered on August 25, 1861. He re-enlisted on December 30, 1863 and was discharged on August 8, 1865 at Atlanta, Georgia.
During Moore’s enlistment the unit was assigned to several southern states. It fought at the Battle of Westport (MO) on October 23, 1864. During the latter stages of the War, it was engaged in the Battle of Selma (AL) (April 2, 1865) and the capture of Macon (GA) on April 20, 1865.
Moore died on March 22, 1938 at the age of 97 years. He is buried in the Kearney Cemetery in Kearney (Buffalo County), Nebraska. Moore was a member of two posts of the Grand Army of the Republic:
Lyon Post (#11) in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Jewett Post (#228) in Miller, Nebraska.
