Company I, 2nd Indiana Cavalry
Norvell was born in Springfield (LaPorte County), Indiana on February 3, 1846. Research indicates that his last name has also spelled “Norrill”, “Norville”, and “Norwell”. He was residing in Sullivan County, Indiana when he enlisted and mustered in the regiment on December 9, 1861. Norvell served about 15 months before his discharge on March 1, 1863 due to disability.
Norvell died on July 29, 1931 at the age of 85 years. He is buried in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha (Douglas County), Nebraska. Norvell was a member of the Goodham Post (#247) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Chambers, Nebraska.
