Price was born in Wabash County, Indiana on June 16, 1846. He was residing in Wabash County when he enlisted and mustered in the regiment on February 8, 1865. Price served about 7 months. He was discharged on September 4, 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky.
The 153rd Indiana Infantry was organized at Indianapolis on March 1, 1865. The unit was shipped to Russellville, Kentucky and performed operations against guerillas in that area.
Price died on January 7, 1935 at the age of 88 years. He is buried in the Union Cemetery in Lawrence (Nuckolls County), Nebraska. Price was a member of the Oliver Post (#43) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Fairfield, Nebraska.
