Stevenson (also spelled Stephenson) was born in Cattaraugus County, New York on September 16, 1846. He was residing in Warren County, Pennsylvania when he enlisted and mustered in the regiment on September 5, 1864. Information regarding Stevenson’s discharge date was not available. The unit was mustered out on June 2, 1865.
The 211th Pennsylvania Infantry was organized at Pittsburg on September 16, 1864. During Stevenson’s enlistment, the unit was assigned to siege operations against Petersburg and Richmond, Virginia from September 1864 to April 1865. The regiment lost 22 soldiers and 95 were wounded on April 2, 1865.
Stevenson died on February 12, 1932 at the age of 85 years. He is buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway (Custer County), Nebraska.
