Private Henry H Turner

Turner was born in Ostego County, New York on July 3, 1843. He was residing in Quasqueton (Buchanan County), Iowa when he enlisted on August 15, 1862. Turner was mustered on October 3, 1862 and served about 34 months. He was discharged on August 8, 1865 at Clinton, Iowa.
The 27th Iowa Infantry was organized and mustered at Dubuque on October 3, 1862. The regiment was assigned to duty in several southern states during the Civil War. On April 9, 1864 the unit fought at the Battle of Pleasant Hill in Louisiana. Regimental losses were 5 killed, 76 wounded, and 23 were captured.
Turner died on August 14, 1934 at the age of 91 years. He is buried in the Harvard Cemetery in Harvard (Clay County), Nebraska. Turner was a member of the Richardson Post (#60) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Harvard.
