Company F, 3rd Ohio Infantry (3 months/1861)

Watkins was born on September 5, 1837. He enlisted and mustered in the regiment on April 22, 1861 and served until August 18, 1861.

The 3rd Ohio Infantry was organized at Camp Jackson (Columbus), Ohio on April 25, 1861. The unit was eventually reorganized for 3 years of service on June 12, 1861.

Watkins died on September 30, 1934 at the age of 97 years. He is buried in the Fairbury Cemetery in Fairbury (Jefferson County), Nebraska. Watkins was a member of the Richardson Post (#60) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Harvard, Nebraska.
