Winsor was born in Ohio on June 13, 1847. He enlisted and mustered in the regiment on May 2, 1864. Winsor served until September 14, 1864. He was discharged at Camp Marietta, Ohio.
The 148th Ohio Infantry was organized and mustered at Marietta, Ohio on May 17, 1864. The regiment was moved to the Washington DC area and assigned to duty at City Point, Virginia until August 29, 1864.
Winsor died May 29, 1933 at the age of 85 years. He is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in York (York County), Nebraska. Winsor was a member of the Anderson Post (#32) of the Grand Army of the Republic in York.
