Private William Wilson

Company D, 143rd Illinois Infantry (100 days/1864)

Wilson was born in England on January 27, 1845. He was residing in Mason (Effingham County), Illinois when he enlisted on May 3, 1864. Wilson was mustered on June 11, 1864 and served until September 26, 1864. He was discharged at Mattoon, Illinois.

The 143rd Illinois Infantry was organized and mustered at Mattoon for 100 days of service on June 11, 1864. The unit was assigned to duties in Tennessee and Arkansas and was mustered out on September 26, 1864.

Wilson died on March 11, 1930 at the age of 85 years. He is buried in the Blair Cemetery in Blair (Washington County), Nebraska. Wilson was a member of the Dix Post (#52) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Blair.
