Company A, 137th Pennsylvania Infantry
Wilcox was born in Susquehannah County, Pennsylvania on June 10, 1839. He was residing in Wayne County, Pennsylvania when he enlisted and mustered into the regiment on August 20, 1862. Wilcox served about 9 months before he was discharged on June 2, 1863.
The 137th Pennsylvania Infantry was organized at Harrisburg on August 25, 1862. During his enlistment, the unit was involved in two major battles:
Battle of Antietam (VA) (September 17, 1862).
Battle of Chancellorsville (VA) (May 2-5, 1863).
Wilcox died on March 6, 1938 at the age of 98 years. He is buried in the Table Rock Cemetery in Table Rock (Pawnee County), Nebraska. Wilcox was a member of the Gere Post (#165) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Table Rock.
