Private George Young
3rd Iowa Light Artillery
Young was born in Vermillion County, Illinois on November 25, 1846. He was residing in Grundy County, Iowa when he enlisted and mustered in the regiment on December 2, 1864. Young served about 11 months. He was discharged on October 23, 1865 at Davenport, Iowa.
He joined the regiment in the final stages of the War at Fort Smith, Arkansas. The unit moved to Davenport, Iowa and was mustered out on October 23, 1865.
Young died on September 2, 1931 at the age of 84 years. He is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Decatur (Burt County), Nebraska.
