Private Francis M Wray

Wray was born in Kirkwood (Warren County), Illinois on February 13, 1847. He enlisted and was mustered as a 17-year old private on April 23, 1864. Wray served 17 months with the unit. He was mustered out on September 30, 1865 at Memphis, Tennessee.
During Wray’s enlistment the regiment was assigned to guard duty on the Memphis & Charleston Railroad between Memphis and LeGrange, Tennessee.
Wray died on March 15, 1932 at the age of 85 years. He is buried in the Valley View Cemetery in Genoa (Nance County), Nebraska. At the time of his death, he was the last member of the Corinth Post (#153) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Genoa.
