Sharp was born in Illinois on October 4, 1847. He living in Carlisle (Clinton County), Illinois when he enlisted and was mustered in the regiment on January 31, 1865. The 17-year old private enlisted for 1 year. He served 1 year and was mustered out on January 16, 1866 at Atlanta, Georgia.
The 150th Illinois Infantry was organized and mustered at Camp Butler on February 14, 1865. The outfit was mustered for 1 year’s service. The unit was assigned to duty in Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia during and after the Civil War.
Sharp died on January 12, 1944 at the age of 96 years. He is buried in the Kilfoil Cemetery in Merna (Custer County), Nebraska. Sharp was a member of the Rice Post (#256) of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) in Merna.
