Todd was born in Michigan on September 14, 1846. The 18 year old enlisted and was mustered in the regiment on September 28, 1864 at Flint, Michigan. He served about 13 months and was discharged on November 13, 1865 for disability.
He died on May 28, 1933 at the age of 87 years. Todd is buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine (Cherry County), Nebraska. He was a charter member of the Gillispe Post (#249) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Norden, Nebraska.
Todd and his family were early settlers in the Sparks, Nebraska area. They were homesteaders and lived in a sod house.
