Talbot was born in Danville (Hendricks County), Indiana on March 16, 1847. He was residing in Hendricks County when enlisted and was mustered in the regiment on May 18, 1864. He served about 4 months before being mustered out on September 7, 1864 at Indianapolis.
The 132nd Indiana Infantry (100 days, 1864) was organized at Indianapolis on May 18, 1864. The unit was assigned to railroad guard duty in Tennessee and Alabama. The regiment was mustered out on September 7, 1864.
Talbot died on May 12, 1934 at the age of 87 years. He is buried in the Broken Bow Cemetery in Broken Bow (Custer County), Nebraska. At the time of his death, he was the last member of the Berwyn Post (#307) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Berwyn. In addition, he was a member of the Washburn Post (#98) of the GAR in Broken Bow.
