Private Cornelius O’Connor
Company E, 186th Pennsylvania Infantry
O’Connor was born on November 28, 1845. He enlisted and was mustered in the regiment as an 18 year old private on February 24, 1864. O’Connor served 15 months and was mustered out on July 27, 1865.
The 186th Pennsylvania Infantry was organized in Philadelphia between January 29 and May 31, 1864. The unit was assigned to provost service in Philadelphia and was mustered out on August 15, 1865.
O’Connor died on March 1, 1926. He is buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Lincoln (Lancaster County), Nebraska. He was a charter member and the last member of the Curtis Post (#343) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Curtis, Nebraska.
