Private John Hutson
Company K, 13th Iowa Infantry
Hutson was born in Indiana on December 2, 1840. He was residing in Washington (Washington County), Iowa when he enlisted in the regiment on October 10, 1861. He was mustered on November 2, 1861. Hutson served about 7 months and was discharged on July 25, 1862 due to disability reasons.
Hutson died on February 27, 1937 at the age of 96 years. He is buried in the Grandview Cemetery in Long Pine (Brown County), Nebraska. He was a member of the Mead Post (#67) of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) in Long Pine. In addition, he was a member of the Shiloh Post (#124) in Loup City and the Elder Post (#158) in Chapman, Nebraska.
