Company F, 138th Illinois Infantry (100 days/1864)
Allen was born in Stark County, Ohio on November 27, 1845. He was living in Pontiac (Livingston County), Illinois when he enlisted on May 7, 1864. Allen was mustered on June 21, 1864. He was discharged on October 14, 1864 at Springfield, Illinois.
The 138th Illinois Infantry was organized at Camp Wood, Illinois on June 21, 1864 for 100 days of service. The regiment was sent to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and remained there until October 1864. Company F was deployed at Weston, Missouri until August 3, 1864.
Allen died on August 3, 1931 at the age of 85 years. He is buried in the Rosehill Cemetery in Albion (Boone County), Nebraska. Allen was a member of the Carson Post (#42) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Albion.
