USC brought an 18-game winning streak into the series.
The Trojans earned a first-game, ninth-inning triple play, but Yale bounced back with an 8-3 win in game two as USC stranded 14 runners on base. USC's 9-2 game-three win delivered the title.
Art Mazmanian had six hits (three in the decisive third game) for a .500 average in the series.
