June 13, 1960 - June 20, 1960 • Rosenblatt Stadium, Omaha, Nebraska • Attendance: 35,222
Nine innings just weren't enough when Minnesota and Southern California met. They battled for 10 innings before the Gophers "walked" off with a 2-1 win in the title game. Minnesota, who went 5-1 during the CWS, scored the winning run on a bases-loaded walk to pinch-hitter Tom Moe.
It was the third meeting in the 1960 CWS between the teams - and their third extra-inning clash.
The Gophers battled from an 11-2 deficit to win the first game 12-11 in 10 before USC took the second meeting 4-3 in 11 innings.
Minnesota is now 2 for 2 in Omaha. The Gophers also won the national title in 1956, their only other trip to the CWS.
John Erickson, Minnesota
The second baseman was the Gophers' captain and finished the CWS with a .296 average.
Erickson was one of four Gophers on the 11-man all-tournament team.
