Series highlights

Two familiar sights at the 1963 College World Series: Southern Cal winning the title and Arizona finishing in second place.

The Trojans captured their record fourth CWS title after defeating the Wildcats 5-2 in the championship game. Meanwhile, Arizona continues to search for the elusive championship, finishing second for the third time.

Sophomore right-hander Walt Peterson led the Trojans in the title game, tossing a complete game while giving up seven hits and two earned runs. He also struck out nine batters.

Bud Hollowell was named most outstanding player after bashing four home runs in the series, including a two-run blast in the second inning.
