Nebraska Net Weight Tests
Over the past five years, the Nebraska Division of Weights and Measures has tested almost 14,000 items at stores across the state to make sure that the weight of the packaging isn't counted toward the charge for the product itself. Even though the amount of over- or undercharge is usually slight, more than half of all stores inspected had at least one item fail the test. In Iowa, the tests aren't performed unless there is a complaint, meaning less than twelve tests last year.
To search the records, type in any part of a store's name in the box at top right. You can also choose a city from the dropdown to see all inspections performed there. Records were provided by Weights and Measures; this resource was created by Matt Wynn. Please e-mail with any questions.
