Medics are badly fooled

A headline from The World-Herald's coverage of the 1896 NU-KC Medics game.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Nebraska University triumphed over the University Medical College at foot ball this afternoon by a score of 6 to 4. The game was hotly contested and was not won until it was played out.

The conditioning and team work of the Lincoln boys were too much for the overconfident medics, who counted on an easy victory.

The Medics lost the ball on a fumble and then Nebraska began to play hard, and for good gains.
