Nebraska recognized Jackson's potential early in the process, extending him an offer in February 2015. It was only his third at the time and came after he'd played only one season of high school football.
Blessed to say that I have received my 3rd football offer from the University of Nebraska #gohuskers— Alaric Jackson (@Alaricj_32) February 17, 2015
Basketball was Jackson's first love, and he had opportunities to play lower-level college hoops. But he was convinced that football offered him a brighter path, and several programs started taking notice.
Nebraska stayed involved in his recruitment until the end, joining Iowa, Michigan State and Wisconsin as the final schools under consideration. He planned to take his official visit to Lincoln the final weekend before NSD, but once the Huskers landed Matt Farniok, Jackson canceled that visit.
These are the players who built Nebraska football.
