Nebraska defensive back Joshua Kalu named to Lott Impact Trophy watch list

Husker defensive back Joshua Kalu was named to the Lott Impact Trophy watch list Friday.

The senior joins 41 other players vying for the honor, which is given to the nation's best defensive player that also shows strong character off the field.

Kalu started every game at cornerback for Nebraska in 2016, finishing fifth on the team in tackles with 66. He added 11 pass breakups and an interception en route to being a Lott quarterfinalist.

Seven other players from the Big Ten joined Kalu on the list, including Iowa's Josey Jewell. Michigan's Jabrill Peppers won the award last season.
