Rex Burkhead is trying to climb to the top of a crowded backfield in New England.
The former Husker told NESN.com that he's willing to adjust to wherever the coaches need him.
"Wherever the coaches want me to (fit in)," he said. "I'm up for whatever. Just try to be as versatile as I can, and whatever way they want to use me that best helps the team, that's what I'll do."
The 26-year-old running back has 87 career carries for 375 yards and three touchdowns. All but 31 rushing yards came in 2016 with the Bengals.
Burkhead has shown streaks of his pass-catching ability in the NFL, too. He has 34 catches for 288 yards and another score in his four professional seasons.

Burkhead wasn't the only Husker making noise in the NFL recently. Undrafted free agent Brandon Reilly made a nice snag for Buffalo, where he's trying to make the roster.
