Five writers at Athlon Sports predicted the Nebraska football season game by game.
The results showed five unanimous victories for the Huskers with two unanimous losses. The Huskers are projected to defeat Arkansas State, Northern Illinois, Rutgers, Illinois and Purdue, while Ohio State and Penn State are favored.
Four writers chose Oregon to win in NU's second game of the season, while three picked Wisconsin, two chose Northwestern, one for Minnesota and two took Iowa.
If the season were to go as Athlon projects, Nebraska would finish the regular season 8-4.
Each of the five writers gave a tidbit on how they foresee the Huskers' season playing out.
Bryan Fischer, who picked NU to finish 6-6, said the "schedule is one reason why it's possible the Cornhuskers will receive a bit of a soft landing in what is certainly a rebuilding year.
Steven Lassan added that Nebraska is the "biggest wild card in the Big Ten West," while Kevin McGuire expects roster turnover to take its toll. J.P. Scott talked up quarterback Tanner lee and said he expects the Huskers to storm out of the gate to a 6-0 start. Finally, Chip Minnich thinks "the schedule is full of land mines."
