Neil Smith saved the day.
According to a report from WDAF — the Fox affiliate in Kansas City — the Husker great rescued a pregnant woman stranded in flood water. Smith said he was in the "right place at the right time" to save the woman, whose van had stalled attempting to cross a road covered in water.
Smith was an All-America defensive tackle for the Huskers in 1987 after recording 7.5 sacks. He went on to have a 13-year NFL career, mostly with the Kansas City Chiefs before winning a pair of Super Bowls with the Denver Broncos.
