Former Mav Jake Guentzel sets career high with four points in Pittsburgh's playoff opener

Jake Guentzel really likes playoff hockey.

The former UNO hockey standout set a new career high with four points in the Pittsburgh Penguins' 7-0 win against the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Guentzel scored a goal and had three assists Wednesday night. The former Mavs captain led the NHL with 13 playoff goals while helping the Penguins claim their second straight Stanley Cup last season.

Guentzel was honored at Baxter Arena earlier this season during a UNO hockey game.

“It’s hard to talk about because you’re only thinking about that in a dream,” he told The World-Herald. “And when it actually happened, it’s like you black out a little bit because it’s hard to actually believe that you’ve won the Stanley Cup — one of the harder trophies to win in sports.”
