ESPN's Bracketology projects Creighton as a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament

The Jays believe they can contend in the Big East.

Joe Lunardi thinks CU is on the rise, too. The ESPN bracketologist has the Bluejays tabbed as the No. 6 seed in the Midwest region of the NCAA Tournament in March.

In Lunardi's preseason bracket prediction, published Thursday, he has Creighton playing the winner of one of the four play-in games, Colorado and BYU.

There's a potential rematch for the Jays if they win: No. 3 seed Wisconsin. CU hosts the Badgers on Nov. 15.

Lunardi picked five other Big East teams to make the Big Dance, including the defending champion Villanova, Georgetown, Xavier, Seton Hall and Butler.

The Bluejays open the season with an exhibition game against Wayne State on Friday.
