Huskers lose Terrell Newby, Antonio Reed in first half

Nebraska safety Antonio Reed was carted to the locker room late in the second quarter. I-back Terrell Newby was also ruled out after suffering an injury.

Reed walked slowly off the field to the sidelines where medical trainers attended to him. They then used a cart to bring him to the locker room for more examination.

Reed was playing in place of Nate Gerry, who was academically ineligible for the Music City Bowl. Aaron Williams and Kieron Williams were NU's two safeties with Reed's absence, and Lamar Jackson was occupying the nickel.

The Husker Sports Network reported with about three minutes left in the half that Newby wouldn't return to the game.

Nebraska trailed 14-0 when Reed and Newby left the game.
