Creighton's Justin Patton is on the midseason watch list for the United States Basketball Writers Association's Wayman Tisdale Award, given to the nation's best freshman.
Patton is averaging 13.7 points per game and a team-high 6.5 rebounds. He has 32 blocked shots, ranks third nationally in field goal percentage (71.8 percent) and boasts 50 dunks in 20 games.
There are 12 players on the watch list, including Kansas' Josh Jackson, St. John's Shamorie Ponds and Duke's Jayson Tatum.
Balloting for the USBWA's individual awards will take place in March.
