Former Husker linebacker Trevor Roach calls it a career, announcing NFL retirement

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Trevor Roach, a former Husker who also starred at Elkhorn High School, announced his NFL retirement Friday after two seasons.

“Once I realized I didn’t love football like I used to, it wasn’t worth going forward,” Roach told Bengals.com. “The money’s good, but that’s not why I got into it. When I started showing up and it felt like work, that’s when I knew it was time.”

Roach's wife, Stephanie, works at Children's Hospital in Omaha.

Roach originally walked on at Nebraska and was a first-team All-Nebraska selection in 2009 with the Antlers.
