Rape survivor Brenda Tracy shared her powerful message with the Husker football team last summer. On Thursday, Nebraska coach Mike Riley nominated Tracy for the ESPY's Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
Riley showed his support for Tracy, applauding her efforts to change the world and her "immense courage" in a tweet.
Tracy spoke with the Husker football team for more than an hour last summer, sharing her story and message with the team as profiled by The World-Herald's Tom Shatel.
“I felt welcomed here,” Tracy told The World-Herald after the meeting. “I did not feel any animosity in that room. There was no lip service. Everyone here thanked me for coming. And they meant it.”
