Company D, 149th Indiana Infantry

Baker was born on February 24, 1848. He enlisted and was mustered in the regiment on February 15, 1865. Based on his date of birth, Baker was 16 years old at the time of his enlistment. He served about 5 months and was discharged on July 13, 1865.

The 149th Indiana Infantry was organized and mustered at Indianapolis on March 1, 1865. The unit was assigned to garrison duty in Decatur, Alabama. The regiment was mustered out on September 27, 1865.

Baker died on August 1, 1931 at the age of 83 years. He is buried in te Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln (Lancaster County), Nebraska.
