Beauchamp was born in Mount Carmel (Wabash County), Illinois on January 11, 1843. He enlisted and mustered in the regiment on October 9, 1861 at Rockport, Missouri. Missouri records indicate that he served until February 11, 1862.
The 12th Missouri Cavalry was organized in Missouri between December 5, 1861 and May 6, 1862. The regiment was assigned to duties in Missouri and was discharged on February 4, 1863.
Beauchamp died on May 13, 1932 at the age of 89 years. He is buried in the Steele Cemetery in Falls City (Richardson County), Nebraska. Beauchamp was a member of the Veteran Post (#84) of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) in Falls City. In addition, he was a member of the Volunteer Post (#164) of the GAR in Dawson, Nebraska.
