Private William Blackwood
Company A, 129th Ohio Infantry
Blackwood was born on July 27, 1845. He enlisted in the regiment on June 25, 1863. Blackwood was mustered on July 7, 1863 and went on to serve about 8 months. He was discharged on March 8, 1864.
The 129th Ohio Infantry was organized at Camp Taylor (near Cleveland), Ohio on August 10, 1863. The unit was assigned to patrol duty in Kentucky and Tennessee. The regiment was mustered out on March 10, 1864.
Blackwood died on October 5, 1931 at the age of 86 years. He is buried in the Arapahoe Cemetery in Arapahoe (Furnas County), Nebraska. Blackwood was one of the last members of the Wallace Post (#50) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Hubbell, Nebraska.
