Private Peter Blakesley
Company A, 50th Wisconsin Infantry
Blakesley was born in Capron (Boone County), Illinois on June 30, 1846. He was residing in Rushford (Winnebago County), Wisconsin when he enlisted and was mustered in the regiment on February 21, 1865. Blakesley served about 16 months and was discharged on June 12, 1866.
The 50th Wisconsin Infantry was organized at Madison, Wisconsin in March and April 1865. During Blskrdlry’s enlistment, the unit was assigned to the Benton Barracks in St Louis.
Blakesley died on August 30, 1930 at the age of 84 years. He is buried in the Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse (Otoe County), Nebraska. Blakesley was a member of the Wadsworth Post (#21) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Syracuse.
